Step 1

The Range Extender should always be powered on.

Let's take a look at what could cause a loss of power.

First, check if the fuse that feeds the power to the Range Extender has blown.

Check the fused spur which feeds the power to the Range Extender and what it is wired to. If there is a neon light on the device, this should be on.

If the neon light is off, the fuse will need to be replaced with one of the same type and rating.

Do not do anything with electrical wiring, unless you are confident and competent to do so!

UK legislation says that:

" A competent person is someone who has sufficient training and experience or knowledge and other qualities that allow them to assist you properly. "

We may mention in these instructions to do checks on wiring - if you are not a competent person, then you should have an electrician carry out these checks.

Unfortunately, Genius Hub are unable to provide assistance with checking wiring. An 'electrically competent person' will be able to use the wiring diagrams that we provide to check or install a Genius Hub system. To see our map of registered Genius Hub Trained Installers, Click Here .

Step 2

A lack of power could also be caused by a circuit breaker that has tripped.

Check the relevant circuit at the Consumer Unit to ensure that the correct circuit is turned on for this part of your heating system.

If this trips again, one of the devices on the circuit has an electrical fault and should be investigated by a competent professional.

Step 3

One more thing to check - t here may be a loose wire between the supply and the Range Extender.

This must be done by an 'electrically competent person'!

The Range Extender will have to be removed from its pattress to check the connection.

  1. Unscrew the Fused Spur or Blanking Plate from the front of the pattress.

  2. Check the wiring against the Range Extender wiring instructions ( https://www.geniushub.co.uk/wiring )
  3. Re-screw the Range Extender into the pattress. and fit the front cover.
