Dual Channel Receiver No Power

Step 1

The Dual Channel Receiver should always have a light showing on the front of it. If it doesn't then it has no power.

Let's take a look at what could cause a loss of power.

First, check if the fuse that feeds the power to the Dual Channel Receiver has blown"

Check the fused spur which feeds the power to the boiler and Dual Channel Receiver. If there is a neon light on the device, this should be on.

If the neon light is off, the fuse will need to be replaced with one of the same type and rating.

Do not do anything with electrical wiring, unless you are confident and competent to do so!

UK legislation says that:

" A competent person is someone who has sufficient training and experience or knowledge and other qualities that allow them to assist you properly. "

We may mention in these instructions to do checks on wiring - if you are not a competent person, then you should have an electrician carry out these checks.

Step 2

A lack of power could also be caused by a circuit breaker that has tripped.

Check the relevant circuit at the Consumer Unit to ensure that the correct circuit is turned on for your heating system.

If this trips again, one of the devices on the circuit has an electrical fault and should be investigated by a competent professional.


Step 3

One more thing to check - t here may be a loose wire between the supply and the Single Channel Receiver.

This must be done by an 'electrically competent person'!

The Dual Channel Receiver will have to be removed from the backplate to check the connection.

  1. Loosen the two screws at the bottom of the Dual Channel Receiver.
  2. Check the wiring against the Dual Channel Receiver wiring instructions ( https://www.Geniushub.co.uk/wiring )
  3. Re-fit the Dual Channel Receiver onto the backplate. (Hook it on at the top of the backplate first and then hinge the receiver unit down. If it does not attach easily first time, take the receiver unit off and try again.
  4. Tighten the screws underneath the Dual Channel Receiver, and check the unit is securely and safely attached to the wall.

The Dual Channel Receiver should have a single solid amber light at all times.
