Step 1
Make sure that the Genius Radiator Valve is within 2 meters (line of sight) of the Genius Hub.
If the devices are not close enough together:1. Unmount the Genius Radiator Valve from the radiator.
This video shows how to remove and refit the Genius Radiator Valve .
2. Move the Genius Hub closer to the Genius Radiator Valve. The Genius Hub must have power and an Internet connection. This can be done by:
a) Using a long Ethernet cable
b) Plugging the Hub into a different Ethernet switch
c) Using a Power Line Ethernet adaptor or WiFi booster which has an Ethernet port (
see this link for how to connect the hub with a power-line Ethernet adaptor
)
Step 2
Now the hub needs to get ready to add the device.
The Doctor will search for the new device
Step 3
Press and release the middle /o\ button.
The letters or numbers on the screen of the valve are not important at this point.
The screen backlight should quickly flash, then slowly flash, then stop flashing when the device has included successfully. If the screen begins flashing slowly once more, press the middle /o\ button once again.
On success, the Genius Radiator Valve has been assigned a number, write this number on the side of the device.
The Doctor will communicate with the device
Step 4
If not already, re-install the Genius Radiator Valve onto the radiator.
Step 5
Now pick a zone to assign the Genius Radiator Valve to.
The Doctor will ask you to select a zone
Step 6
The Doctor will create the new zone
Step 7
The Doctor will now assign the device to a zone
Step 8
First locate the Genius Radiator Valve which has been re-added Genius Hub. You need to use the original ID number of the device, and not the one which it currently has.
The Doctor will ask you to select the relevant device
Step 9
First the Genius Hub needs to attempt to communicate with the Genius Radiator Valve once more. This is to ensure that the device is a 'dead node' and so is eligible to be removed from the system in this way.
The Doctor will communicate with the device
Wake up the device by short pressing one of the arrow buttons once.
Step 10
Now the device is confirmed as no longer on the system, it can be removed.
The Doctor will attempt to remove the device
