Step 1

The Electric Switch should display a light near the bottom-right hand button when it is calling for heat. Press the button at the bottom-right, and if a red light does not show then it has no power.

Let's take a look at what could cause a loss of power.

First, check if the fuse that feeds the power to the Electric Switch has blown.

Check the fused spur which feeds the power to the Electric Switch and what it is wired to. If there is a neon light on the device, this should be on.

If the neon light is off, the fuse will need to be replaced with one of the same type and rating.

Do not do anything with electrical wiring, unless you are confident and competent to do so!

UK legislation says that:

" A competent person is someone who has sufficient training and experience or knowledge and other qualities that allow them to assist you properly. "

We may mention in these instructions to do checks on wiring - if you are not a competent person, then you should have an electrician carry out these checks.

Unfortunately, Genius Hub are unable to provide assistance with checking wiring. An 'electrically competent person' will be able to use the wiring diagrams that we provide to check or install a Genius Hub system. To see our map of registered Genius Hub Trained Installers, Click Here .

Step 2

A lack of power could also be caused by a circuit breaker that has tripped.

Check the relevant circuit at the Consumer Unit to ensure that the correct circuit is turned on for this part of your heating system.

If this trips again, one of the devices on the circuit has an electrical fault and should be investigated by a competent professional.

Step 3

One more thing to check - t here may be a loose wire between the supply and the Electric Switch.

This must be done by an 'electrically competent person'!

The Electric Switch will have to be removed from its pattress to check the connection.

  1. Remove the white front cover from the Electric Switch using a flat bladed screwdriver. Push the screwdriver into the slot on the underside of the cover and flex the slot out slightly to release the white cover.

  2. Undo the two screws, one located towards the left and right-hand sides of the Electric Switch, approximately half way down.
  3. Check the wiring against the Electric Switch wiring instructions ( https://www.geniushub.co.uk/wiring )
  4. Re-screw the Electric Switch into the pattress. and fit the front cover.

The Electric Switch should have between 1 and 3 solid red lights when it is calling for heat.
