The Heat Genius system makes use of the a Z-Wave wireless network, using smart plugs to repeat any messages they pick up back to the Genius Hub. This creates a very stable and versatile network so even if a valve or room sensor that is a long way from the Genius Hub it can still communicate with the smart plug local to it, which repeats the message to the Genius Hub.
These smart plugs can also be controlled from the app, you can schedule them to come on at different times such as to be used for a security lights when you are away for example.
